
COACH SHERRY OLIVARES - VARSITY HEAD COACH
Starting her 16th year of coaching and 4th as head coach at JP II, Sherry Olivares boasts an impressive varsity coaching career. Before coming to JP II, Sherry Olivares led the varsity at Garland High School for 12 years. Her successful program included her teams advancing to the playoffs 10 out of the 12 seasons. She was also honored as the Dallas Morning News "Coach of the Year" in 1994, leading her team to the Regional State Semi-Finals that season. Prior to her career at Garland High, Coach Olivares coached successful programs at Austin Academy and Webb Middle Schools in Garland, and Newman Smith and South Garland High Schools.
A player herself, she attended East Texas State University (now Texas A&M, Commerce) on a full volleyball scholarship. Her playing day accomplishments include many all-conference teams, her team's "Most Valuable Player Award", as well as being named "Most Outstanding Female Athlete" her senior year. Sherry is a member of the Texas Girls Coaches Association and is also actively involved in the volleyball community. She co-directs a highly successful youth league, Garland Volleyball Association, and is a Cap Level 1 certified club volleyball coach for Dallas Premier.
Coach Olivares has two children. Marissa is a sophomore at Sachse High School, playing varsity volleyball. Michael is a 7th grader at Webb Middle School where he participates in football.
COACH GOEFF KIESSLING - VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH
Geoff Kiessling has been coaching volleyball for the past 15 years. The past four years were spent at Alvin Community College located in Alvin, Texas. While at ACC, Kiessling took the program from the bottom of the Conference and helped to make ACC a Nationally ranked program. Since 1994, he has coached club volleyball in the Houston Area.
This past year Kiessling coached for the Dallas Premier Volleyball Club in Plano.
Coach Kiessling is also very involved with USA Volleyball. Geoff has been selected for the past 8 years to train athletes from all over the country in High Performance and Development camps held by USA Volleyball. Kiessling was also chosen to represent the Lone Star Region as a Coach for the High Performance Program for the past 4 years.
Geoff is a current and active member of the American Volleyball
Coach's Association and is CAP Level II Certified Coach.

COACH MARLENE EHRING - JV HEAD COACH
To the athletes in the JPII Volleyball program, she is known as Coach M, but her full name is Marlene Ehring and she has been coaching volleyball for six years in north Texas at the middle school level as well as head coach at the National Club level. Marlene was hired on 2 years ago to coach the Freshman team but has since moved on to Junior Varsity Coach this season as well as being the Conditioning Coach for the program the last three years.
Coach Ehring was fortunate to play volleyball at Cerritos College in Southern California where she was ranked 3rd in the South Coast Conference for serving and as a Defensive Specialist. From there she attended the California State College System both at San Diego and Fullerton. Coach M has acquired several certifications in the field of Exercise Science, Fitness Direction and Personal Fitness Training. Marlene is a member of the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and Reebok Alliance and is currently studying with the American College of Sports Medicine.
Coach Ehring is also Impact and CAP I certified, CPR certified and is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Marlene's family, husband Mike, daughter Kayla and son Conar have been residing in Texas for 7 years.
COACH SUE SCHLEUSNER - FRESHMAN HEAD COACH
This is Coach Schleusner's 2nd year at John Paul II High School. For the past sixteen years she has coached middle school students at Austin Academy in Garland. During this time she worked with 7th and 8th graders to help them develop the skills needed to prepare them for high school volleyball. She helped begin the Garland Volleyball Association with Coach Olivares and later became the middle school liason for the Association. This year she is coaching the 9th grade volleyball team at John Paul II High School.
